Second war-era RCMP brass cap badge featuring a buffalo head inside an inscribed garter reading "MAINTIENS LE DROIT", surrounded by maple leaves and topped with a King's Crown. The badge of the "Mounties" has largely unchanged since 1876, thought the spelling on the garter was corrected from "Maintien" to "Maintiens" in 1912.
Original lugs have been removed and an incredibly poor job of soldering a slider mount present. Not maker marked that we can see but who knows what may be under all that solder. Red felt backing helps hide the rear workmanship and the obverse is perfectly fine. Priced accordingly.
