With case of issue. Private George Alfred Joseph Leonard, No. 1075342 was born August 27, 1889 at Quebec City. He attested at Halifax on September 12, 1916. Private Leonard died on August 21, 1917 when he was shot in the head after reaching the objective, Cinnebar Trench, Hill 70. He is remembered on the Vimy memorial as his body was not recovered. Robert Hanna, also of the 29th was awarded the Victoria Cross for actions at this same battle.
