An officer's private purchase field cap that has clearly seen service. It is well worn, soft and has its share of moth damage, primarily to the rear and the underside of the visor. Importantly, it is badged to the Royal Naval Air Service Cadets with a two piece brass badge that has some remnants of its original gilt finish. Horn side buttons and original leather chin strap remain as does the interior leather sweat band which is labelled size 7 3/8 and maker stamped to Wm. Scully of Montreal. Shadowing around the badge indicates it has been on this cap for a very long time.
