RCAF No. 1 "Y" Depot in Halifax, Nova Scotia, was a critical World War II embarkation unit (1941–1945) for thousands of Air Force personnel traveling overseas to Europe under the British Commonwealth Training Plan (BCATP)
The No. 1 “Y” Depot crest design incorporates a three masted sailing ship, the ocean and wings – all representative of the depot’s function of embarking airmen for the UK. This crest was used on sports jerseys, jackets and sweaters and was sold as a souvenir in the station canteen.
