A WW1 1903 Pattern seven‑button service tunic, manufactured in the pre‑war style and worn by Canadian soldiers during the 1914–1918 period. This may by a private purchase piece as the material is more of an officer quality than the standard issue. Constructed with the characteristic seven‑button front, stand up collar, pleated breast pockets, and plain lower pockets typical of the early Canadian service dress. Cloth patches to the third division Canadian Engineers on both sleeves, one wound stripe, CANADA nationality titles and CEF titles on the shoulder straps. Buttons and collar badges are general service. This tunic, like many others, found its way into a costume company after the war; Eaves Costumers who supplied costumes to the Broadway stage. It was indeed discovered in the U.S.
Condition issues commensurate with age and use, there a few small nips, holes and repairs but nothing serious.
