The National Defence Company was a military reserve force established in 1936 for home defence in the event of war in the UK. It was made up primarily of former service personnel of middle age. The National Defence Company formed the home front battalions at the outbreak of the second world war. Browning finish, both tangs are intact, no maker mark seen.
